Coming to a doula initiation (training) was, for me at least, a massive leap of faith, less about the nuts and bolts of professional development and more about an exploration of my own mothering story within the wider stories of birth that we share. I thought I could gain something and might have something to give but was less clear about the shape that would take. I felt it was everything I was looking for. I found it to be a very healing experience with wonderful, supportive people and plenty of tea.
